Model Overview
Chevy's entry level car is the Korean-built Aveo, which is available in 2007 as a five-door hatchback or four-door sedan. Base prices start at $9,995 for the base wagon and run up to $13,510 for a surprisingly well-equipped Aveo sedan with LT trim. The LT, which is not available on the hatchback, adds dual power heated outside mirrors, 15-inch alloy wheels, power windows and locks, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and a CD player. For 2007 you can also get steering wheel mounted audio controls and an available six-disc changer as an upgrade to the standard AM/FM stereo. All audio systems now include an input jack for a digital media player. Anti-lock brakes, an automatic transmission, and a sunroof continue to be popular optional equipment.

The Aveo's ride and handling are decent for a small car, and the back seat is surprisingly roomy given the compact size. Side air bags are a nice standard feature for car at this price, and the interior is better designed and executed than most vehicles in this segment.

Overall the Aveo is a good choice if you're looking for an entry level car, especially if you value quality of interior surroundings over outright performance.

Model Changes
Chevrolet has made significant changes to their Aveo for 2007. At $9,995 the Aveo5 hatchback is one of the lowest priced cars sold in America, while the Aveo sedan offers standard air conditioning.

Though the exterior and interior styling was redone for 2007 and the suspension was retuned, the same reliable 1.6L four cylinder engine remains under the hood. The E-Tec has double overhead camshafts, electronic throttle control and variable geometry induction are modern elements that help it to make 103 horsepower.

The Special value trim remains on the Aveo5, but is no longer available on the sedan. Side air bags are now standard for 2007.

Chevy's 2007 Aveo5 Special Value hatchback remains one of the lowest priced new cars in the U.S. today, and a number of changes from 2006 have made the Aveo more comfortable than its price point would suggest. Buyers can order an LT sedan with cruise control, power conveniences, ABS, and a six-disc CD changer while keeping the car below $15,000.
